FIFA21 News – get ready for one of the best virtual football games of all time!

By Coach Alex

It’s the same thing every year – we are disappointed and frustrated with the current FIFA edition and plan to boycott the next one! “It’s gonna be the same game anyway”, “the servers will still be bad”, “I’ll get PES next year” – sentences we hear every year from all our friends. But in the end it always comes down to everyone getting the new FIFA game anyway – and us being disappointed again most of the time.

But we are pretty confident, that this year will be different. Why? Because of the information EA has already given out! FIFA21 will be one of the best FIFA games ever! EA has already announced some things about the game. In this blog, we’re summarizing everything we already know

when will fifa21 be released

In the last years the new FIFA edition was always released on the last Friday in September. Because of the Corona Pandemic, EA had to postpone the release of FIFA21. The game will be released on October 9th. With the Ultimate Edition or Champions Edition you can already play from October 6th and with EA Access you can even play from September 1st, even though you’re limited to 10 hours of playing time.

Which consoles can you play FIFA21 on?

Like every year, FIFA21 will be released for all consoles, that means PlayStation4, Xbox One and PC. FIFA21 is coming out for the next generation of consoles as well (PS5, Xbox Series X) but of course you’ll have to wait until they hit the market.

Who is the cover star and what does the trailer look like?

Every year we’re all asking the same question – which star will be on the FIFA cover this year? In FIFA20 Eden Hazard from Real Madrid made the cover. For the first time this year it will be a youngster – Kylian Mbappé gets his first FIFA cover at the age of 21 – crazy! So far, EA has released two trailers for FIFA21 – the Reveal Trailer on July 21st, which showed some short gameplay sections and professionals playing the game, and the Gameplay Trailer on August 4th with all the new gameplay features we can expect in the new FIFA.

Check them out here:

Do I have to buy FIFA21 again if I want it for Xbox Series X or the PS5?

No, EA has already confirmed that if you buy FIFA21 for the current consoles, you will get the game for the next gen consoles for free. Your game progress will be transferred as well. Unfortunately, there will be no crossplay this year again, contrary to many wishes from the community. Crossplay means that players can play against each other on different consoles, for example a game between a PS5 and an Xbox Series X player. Even big streamers like Castro wanted crossplay, but unfortunately, we’ll have to wait at least another year.

What do you have to pay for FIFA21?

If you want to get the FIFA21 Standard Edition, you’ll have to pay EUR 69,99 for the Xbox and PS5 version respectively. For the PC version you’ll have to pay EUR 59,99. Of course, there will be the Ultimate Edition and Champions Edition again, just like the years before. If you’re buying one of the special editions, you’ll get exclusive kits and packs for your Ultimate Team.

You will also get loan players like Kylian Mbappé, Joao Felix, Erling Haaland or Trent Alexander-Arnold. For the career mode you’ll get a “Homegrown Talent” with world class potential. Furthermore, you will have access to the game 3 days before the official release. You’ll have to pay EUR 89,99 or EUR 99,99 for the Champions and Ultimate Edition respectively.

fifa21 demo

EA has not yet published a release date for the demo, but we’re expecting it to be released exactly two weeks before the launch of the full game, just like it’s been every year. This would mean that you will be able to get the demo for the console of your choice on September 22nd. In the demo you can usually play with a few selected teams in kick off mode against friends or the computer to get an idea of the gameplay you can expect 2 weeks later.

These Bayern players are going to be insane in FIFA21!

By Coach Alex

We really hope you didn’t miss Sunday’s Champions League final between FC Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain. It was an incredible game with lots of chances and a happy end for all fans of Bayern. The team from Munich crowns it’s unbelievable season with the treble and go down in history as the first Champions League winner that won all their games of a season. This incredible season will earn a lot of players a significant rating upgrade in FIFA21.

We’re taking a look at 3-star players and their potential rating in the newest FIFA game that will be available from October 9.

alphonso davies

“Phonzie” without a doubt is the biggest surprise from last season. He went from sitting on the bench and playing for the second team to being arguably the best left back in the world. Especially his performance against Barca in Bayern’s incredible 8:2 win left a lot of fans speechless.

Davies started FIFA20 with a 72 rated left midfielder and didn’t get a winter upgrade – which is a joke if you look at his performances even before the winter break. Alphonso will definitely receive a huge upgrade and of course a position change in FIFA21. Our prediction for “Phonzie” is an 82 rated left back card which will be one of the most overpowered options for this position in the upcoming game.

If you want to find out more about Alphonso’s life and career, check out our previous blog about him The evolution of Phonzy.

joshua kimmich

Kimmich has been one of the most consistent and well-rounded players in the world for the last few seasons already. Now it seems like he’s finally getting the recognition he deserves. Last season he registered 4 goals and 9 assists to his name which is pretty good for a defensive midfielder or right back – his preferred positions.

But his game isn’t defined by his numbers. He’s one of those players that’s never getting tired. He’s up and down the pitch from the first to the last minute of the game. No wonder why pretty much every star coach is a huge fan of him. We’re talking the likes of José Mourinho, Pep Guardiola, Jupp Heynckes and many more.

In FIFA20, Kimmich has an 86 rated right back card. For FIFA21, we’re guessing he’ll receive an 89 rated CDM card, which will be one of the most well-rounded cards in the game and playable in multiple positions.

robert lewandowski

“Lewy” has been among the top 3 strikers for the past few seasons, but this he has taken it up a notch. He scored 55 goals in 47 games, more than world renowned clubs like Atlético Madrid or Sevilla. He broke multiple records including scoring in every Champions League he’s played in. At 32 years old, lots of people compare him to a fine wine – he gets better with age.

This has been the best season of his career and he shows no signs of slowing down. Let’s see what the Polish legend has in store for us next year. In FIFA 20, he got an 89 rated striker card, which a lot of people thought was too low for a player like him. Our prediction is that he’ll at least get an upgrade to a 91, if not a 92.

What are your FIFA21 predictions for the FC Bayern Munich players and do you want to see some more? Let us know in the comments!

Xbox Series X – everything you need to know about the successor of the Xbox one

By Coach Alex

Slowly but surely the current generation of consoles is coming to an end, but the successors of Xbox One and PS4 are already in the starting blocks.

At the end of this year we can expect another highlight – Microsoft will launch the new Xbox Series X console!

Although we already know a lot about the Series X, lots of rumors are still going around. We will show you what we already know and what is still being speculated about.

Design

In terms of design, the new Xbox is strongly reminiscent of a tower PC (or a refrigerator, depending on the viewer’s opinion 😉). But don’t worry, it can be used both vertically and horizontally. The tower design was chosen because it allows optimal cooling.

Release Date

A few days ago, Microsoft announced that the new Xbox will be released in November 2020. An exact release date has not yet been revealed, but if the rumors are true, the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S should be released on November 5th and 6th, respectively.

Price

Until recently there was no official information on the prices of the consoles. But now, a well-known insider named the alleged prices. According to him, the Xbox Series X 499 euros and the Xbox Series S (which has also not yet been officially confirmed) will cost 299 euros.

In the next weeks and months, more details from Sony and Microsoft will follow regarding the new consoles.

FIFA21 news – new legends are coming into the game!

By Coach Alex

FIFA21 is coming closer every day! The highly anticipated game will be released on the 9th of October. Only about 1,5 months more of waiting until we finally get to try out the new virtual versions of our favorite football stars.

Just a few days ago, EA announced new legends that are coming into the game. The icons are probably everybody’s favorite card. They link with every card in the game and make it possible to play with some of our biggest childhood idols (if you’re one of the older lads, of course 😉). This year, EA has blessed us with these 11 new icons:

Petr Cech

After retiring in 2019, the former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper has now received his deserved icon card. He has played over 500 games over the span of his career and has won pretty much every major title ranging from the Premier League to the Champions League.

Xavi

One of the best midfielders of all time has finally received his more than deserved icon card. Xavi doesn’t need much introduction – his numbers speak for him. He’s won every major national and international title and has played over 500 games.

Eric Cantona

The former Manchester United player is now officially an icon as well. The French man was one of the most feared strikers back in the days – and not only because of his qualities on the pitch. Cantona was known for his bad temper which resulted in him kicking a fan back in 1995.

Samuel Eto’o

Former Barcelona and Inter Milan star Samuel Eto’o is regarded as one of the best strikers of the last decade. It’s only right that he’s now received an icon card on FIFA 21. Eto’o has scored almost 300 goals over the course of his career while winning lots of titles including the La Liga and Serie A title, as well as the Champions League.

Ashley Cole

The Chelsea and Arsenal fullback has won 16 titles while playing on 3 different continents. An achievement that speaks for itself! The Left back was feared for his hard tackles and blistering pace. With Frank Lampard, Michael Essien, Claude Makelele, Marcel Desailly, Ruud Gullit, Didier Drogba and Gianfranco Zola, the list of Chelsea legends is only set to grow on FIFA 21.

Nemanja Vidic

Vidic is one of the best Premier League defenders of all time and highly respected amongst experts and players. Together with Rio Ferdinand, he formed a legendary center back partnership that won Manchester United lots of trophies including the Champions League in 2008.

Philipp Lahm

Bayern Munich legend Philipp Lahm is amongst the best right backs of all time. He’s probably one of the most consistent players we’ve ever seen – delivering world class performances game after the game. The Bayern academy product has played 332 games for the club, winning every major title including the world cup in 2014.

Fernando Torres

Fernando Torres in his days at Liverpool was just insane – he scored 62 goals in just 102 games. Back then, every center back feared coming up against him. Even though his form significantly dipped after the transfer to Chelsea he still scored important goals like the one in the Champions League semifinal that ultimately led to Chelsea winning the UCL.

Ferenc Puskas

If you’ve heard the name Puskas before, it’s probably because of the Puskas award that’s given to the best goal of the year. If you have an award named after you, there isn’t really much else to say. Ferenc Puskas is one of the best strikers in the history of Real Madrid and in the world of football.

Bastian Schweinsteiger

“Schweini” is every Germans favorite player and one of the biggest legends of the game. His performance against Argentina in the 2014 world cup final remains unrivaled to this day. The defensive midfielder has played for Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Chicago Fire.

Davor Suker

Suker might not be as well-known as some other names on this list, but he sure is a player that deserves his icon card. Davor is Croatia’s all-time top scorer with 45 goals to his name. On top of that, the 5-time Croatia footballer of the year has also won the Champions League in 1998. mechanic.

For now, these 11 superstars are the only legends that are coming to FIFA 21 for sure. Let’s see if there are more to come.

Which icons would you like to see in the game? Let us know in the comments below.

FOUR KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM THE FIFA 21 REVEAL

By Coach Alex

With FIFA 21 set to be out on October 9, EA Sports has already begun to release some key features of the next product in the FIFA franchise. This week they’ve put out an official reveal trailer, as well as a few notes about some new features we can expect to see in FIFA 21. They are set to release some more info about the game later this month, but here are four things we’ve learned from the first reveal of FIFA 21’s features:

NUTMEGS ARE STILL PART OF THE GAME

Nutmegs are part and parcel of football, however there are no controls for executing a nutmeg on FIFA – they occur completely randomly. The problematic thing about nutmegs being a random move is the fact that you could end up losing a game because the ball randomly goes through your defender’s legs and gives your opponent a clear shot on goal – so to see a nutmeg included in the FIFA 21 reveal trailer is a bit disappointing. We don’t know the degree to which nutmegs are in the game though, so take this with a grain of salt! But considering EA decided to put a clip of one in the reveal trailer, we might have to deal with another year of RNG – but let’s hope for the best.

CO-OP MODE IN ULTIMATE TEAM

For years, the FIFA community has been clamoring for a CO-OP mode on Ultimate Team and according to the feature reveal, we’re set to get one on FIFA 21.

As far as we can tell right now, you will be able to play Squad Battles against the AI and Division Rivals with your friends. All you need to do is invite your friend while being in the main menu, then your team captain has to decide which mode and team you want to play. Your opponent’s rank will be equal to the one of your higher ranked player and if you are playing alone you can also decide whether you want to play against a team or not.

AGILE DRIBBLING

We’re not quite sure what this means, but we imagine it means more fluid movements on the ball while dribbling with the left stick.

We haven’t had a fluid dribbling system since FIFA 18, so if EA is able to replicate FIFA 18’s dribbling system with this new mechanic, then agile dribbling is something we should be very excited for, as it should allow you to make sharper turns on the ball.

CREATIVE RUNS

From the looks of it, creative runs will influence your team’s movement off the ball in a bid to make build-up play a more dynamic process, rather than the boring possession-fest it was on FIFA 20. The hope is that the creative runs mechanic will allow AI-controlled players to make more intelligent runs off the ball, allowing every match to have a unique feel and make the process of launching attacks more fun.

FIVE THINGS EA WILL CHANGE IN FIFA 21

By Coach Alex

As we approach the end of the FIFA 20 cycle, here’s a look at five things that EA needs to change going into FIFA 21!

NEAR POST FINISHING

Usual near post shots should have no chance of going in – they hardly do in real life, but for some reason EA deemed it a good idea to make near post finishing an overpowered way of scoring, creating a massive imbalance in FIFA 20. With limited space and a hoard of defenders breathing down your neck, near post shots should be a product of wishful thinking. A hope that somehow, someway, the ball will find its way into the back of the net, even though you know that deep down, the goalkeeper should save it without any hassle. Near Post Finishing should be nerfed hard on FIFA 21! It’s necessary to make the game more balanced, less random and more skill based.

AI DEFENDING

AI defending made FIFA 19 a pain to play, but even after the furor from the FIFA community, EA decided to include AI defending in FIFA 20, making it easy to rely on AI-controlled players to make blocks and intercept the ball. AI defending on FIFA 20 might not be as OP as it was back on FIFA 19, but it’s still far too OP for a competitive game. EA needs to nerf it on FIFA 21 and channel their efforts towards making manual defending more rewarding, which brings us to our next point:

TACKLING

FIFA’s tackling mechanic is broken and it has been the case for years now. It is much more rewarding to jockey and intercepts the ball than it is to dive in for a well-timed tackle. Because when you win the ball back, it almost always finds its way back to your opponent’s player. EA needs to make tackling more possession-based on FIFA 21 in a bid to make it more rewarding. A possession-based tackling system will allow you to retain possession of the ball after a clean tackle instead of giving it back to the player you just stole it from. This will remove a lot of randomness from FIFA 21 while adding more depth to its overall defending mechanic.

ATTACKING AI

This is a problem that stretches into the past few iterations of FIFA. FIFA 18, was pretty much the last FIFA title that had intelligent attacking AI, since then EA has gone down the route of making the game’s attacking AI less dynamic and more static. A decision which has reduced the game’s pace of play and made it difficult to play fluid football. AI-controlled players barely make intelligent runs on FIFA 20 – they stand around waiting for you to make pass after pass before they even bother to exploit free space – this is why we’ve had to deal with a boring ‘pass and turn’ META. EA needs to increase the game’s pace for FIFA 21 and to do that, they need to buff the attacking AI. This will make the game more fun, while also raising its skill gap!

ICON SBCS

Icon Swaps was presented as a way to make icons more accessible to the average player, but in reality they’ve done the complete opposite. By removing Icon SBCs from the game, EA made it incredibly difficult to get top-tier icons for the majority of FIFA players. At this point in the FIFA 19 cycle, tons of FIFA players had icons like R9, Gullit, and Vieira through completing their respective icon SBCs. But because there is no prime icon SBCs on FIFA 20 most players can’t afford these cards anymore. EA should bring icon SBCs back, in order to give the average FIFA player a chance to have top-tier icons.

These midfielders are a must have for the remainder of FIFA 20

By Coach Alex

With FIFA20 coming towards the end of its life cycle, now is the time for building your final Ultimate Teams.

The Team of the Season promo has flooded the market with lots of insane cards which are now pretty affordable as there are approximately 2 months left until FIFA 21 comes out.

Here’s a look at 3 incredible midfielders that all cost under 400k coins.

Let’s get right into it.

TOTS PAULINHO

Price: 140k coins

The first player is ex Barca star Paulinho who is now playing for Guangzhou Evergrande in China. His TOTS card is one of the most underrated midfielders on Ultimate Team.

He’s massively underused as he’s pretty hard to link due to him playing in the Chinese league. But if you’ve got a couple of icons or a squad with a few Brazilians, then you’d do well to add Paulinho’s TOTS card to your squad.

One of Paulinho’s key qualities is his versatility – he’s capable of being played as a defensive midfielder, a box-to-box midfielder, or even an attacking midfielder because of his very well-rounded stats.

Some of his standout stats are 92 dribbling, 94 shooting and 95 physical. There aren’t many midfielders better than Paulinho at this stage of the game.

TOTS FRENKIE DE JONG

Price: 370k coins

Barcelona’s Dutch rising star Frenkie de Jong earned himself a 94 rated TOTS card thanks to his incredible season at Ajax Amsterdam and Barcelona respectively.

Even though a TOTY year card has better stigma, his TOTS card has slightly better stats despite being the same rating. (The TOTS looks cooler as well 😉)

Standing at 1,80m, de Jong isn’t the player to physically dominate the midfield, but he’s tall enough to make his presence felt in the center of the field.

But you don’t get de Jong for his physical attributes. His dribbling of 97 and passing of 93 are the reason you’re getting this card. Frenkie can go past your opponent with ease and there’s absolutely nothing they can do about it.

For just 370k, you’d do well to add de Jong to your squad.

TOTS RENATO SANCHES

Price: 184k coins

Back in FIFA 17, Renato Sanches was one of the most overpowered midfielders you could get. Since then, he hasn’t quite been the same – until now! With his TOTS card this year he’s back among the best players in the game.

The stats this card has can pretty much rival any other midfielder in FIFA20.

On top of his 4* skills and weak foot combo he’s got high/high work rates. This means he will be all over the field, helping in the defense and in the attack.

His standout stats are definitely his 94 dribbling, 93 shooting and 95 (!) physical. We’ll say it again – an insane card and a must have for your team!

FIVE PLAYERS THAT SHOULD GET SIGNIFICANT RATING UPGRADES IN FIFA 21

By Coach Alex

A great amount of new stars emerge in the world of football with every season. Being an annual game, FIFA reflect their sublime performances from the previous season and because of that these players typically receive rating upgrades. Some players may earn significant upgrades based on how well they performed. For example Kylian Mbappe went from being a 71-rated player on FIFA 17 to becoming an 83-rated player on FIFA 18.
Here is a look at five players we expect to receive significant upgrades in FIFA 21:

ANSU FATI

Ansu Fati has enjoyed a solid breakout season at the Camp Nou, scoring six goals and registering one assist in nine starts for Barcelona. While still a bit-part player at Barcelona, Fati has proven to be one of the best young players in the Spanish top-flight. He’s a 73 rated player on FIFA 20, but we expect him to receive a significant upgrade ahead of FIFA 21, 79 or 80 would be fair ratings for a player of his age and current ability.

VICTOR OSIMHEN

Nigerian youngster Victor Osimhen proved to be one of the best young players in Ligue 1 this season. His intelligent movements in and around the penalty area helped him to make a major impact in his first season at Lille as he bagged 13 goals in 25 league starts. Osimhen is a 74-rated player on FIFA 20, but judging by how well he played in the 2019/2020 season, we expect him to go receive an upgrade in the range of 80-83 for FIFA 21.

MASON MOUNT

Mason Mount has been a key player for Frank Lampard in his first season at Chelsea. He’s scored six goals and registered four assists in 28 games from midfield – proving to be an integral part of Lampard’s system and is expected to play an even more important role for Chelsea next season. Currently rated 75 on FIFA 20, he’s likely to receive a 79 or 80 rated card next season, based on his stellar showings for the Blues this season.

MASON GREENWOOD

Considering his goalscoring exploits this season we expect Mason Greenwood to receive one of the most significant rating upgrades in the Premier League when FIFA 21 gets released. He’s believed to be one of the brightest young stars in the Premier League at the moment and has the stats to prove it. Greenwood is a 67-rated player on FIFA 20, but having scored eight goals in nine starts for Manchester United this season we fully expect EA Sports to make him at least a 78 rated player on FIFA 21.

ERLING HAALAND

Erling Haaland took the world by storm last season, first making a name for himself with RB Salzburg in the Champions League before going on to make his presence felt in the Bundesliga with Dortmund. The 19-year-old marksman scored 44 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions making him one of the most prolific strikers in Europe during the 2019/2020 season. He’s got a base rating of 73, but we expect EA to make him an 83 or 84 rated player when FIFA 21 rolls out. Haaland is also likely to get a weak foot upgrade – he currently has a three-star weak foot but a four-star weak foot would be a more accurate representation of his abilities.
Which ratings are you expecting for these players? Let us know in the comments!
