THE 🇩🇪GERMAN🇩🇪 CHAMPIONSHIP IS ON!
(1) It´s time for the biggest German FIFA event of the year! THE VBL GRAND FINAL!
The Grand Final of the Virtual Bundesliga starts on the 24th of June and the hype couldn’t be bigger! Originally the event was scheduled for March, but it had to be cancelled because of the Corona Virus.
It´s now been rescheduled for 24. – 28th of June as an online tournament due to obvious reasons (social distancing and stuff 😉).
(2) We´re showing you how the event is planned, the star players, where to watch and much more – let´s jump right into it!
The group stage – which starts on the 24th – consists of 4 groups – 2 per console with each group having 6 players. You can watch the group stages on ran.de starting at 6pm CET.
To make sure there are no unfair advantages due to some teams being better than others, the matches are played in the 85 mode which means that every player has the same stats, skillmoves and weak foot.
The knockout stages – where the top 16 players from the group stages play against each other start on the 25th. They will be broadcasted on ran.de starting at 6pm CET.
(3) The Final will be played on the 28th, it is a cross console final which means that the first leg will be played on xBox and the second leg on Playstation. You can watch the final on ProSieben Maxx and ran.de starting at 12pm CET. Make sure to tune in to watch the best of the best play!
The winner will not only get the Virtual Bundesliga title but also 45000 (!) euros – definitely something worth playing for!
The two favourites for the title are definitely Mohammed „MoAuba“ Harkous, current FIFA world champion from the Fokus clan and Erhan „DrErhano“ Kayman, one of the biggest stars of the VBL from VfB Stuttgart.
The evolution of Phonzy
Davies is now regarded as one of the best left backs in the world. His amazing performance this season for FC Bayern under Hansi Flick was topped of by winning the Bundesliga title.
But lets start from the beginning. Alphonso Davies originally came to Canada as a refugee from Ghana and started playing football soon after he settled into his new home. It didn´t take long for Davies to receive offers from big clubs.
In 2015, he moved to the Vancouver Whitecaps and signed for the second team to play at their second team. At just 15 years old he´s the youngest player to sign a pro contact in the USL – the second division in the USA. Soon after, in may 2016, he became the youngest goalscorer ever in the USL.
He set another record in july 2016 when he became the first player to make the jump from the second team oft he Whitecaps to the pros. Remember, at this time, he was still 15 years old! No surprise – he also became the youngest player to ever play for the Whitecaps.
At the end of July 2018, it was announced that Davies would leave the Whitecaps in January 2019 to go overseas to join ne of the biggest clubs in the world – FC Bayern Munich.
After everything you´ve read you would probably think that he fit in the squad oft he german giants without any problems. Well, even for a player of his class it isn´t always easy to settle in at a new club, in a new league, in a new country. Especially at the age of 18 years.
He had problems getting into the first squad in the beginning and was even seen as a flop by the media because of his pricetag of 18 million euros, which is a record for a MLS player. He might have won the Bundesliga and DFB Cup in his first season, but he only played 3 games for the first team.
He still had problems at the start of the 19/20 season, but as we all know, you need a little bit of luck to succeed. A new coach – Hansi Flick – and David Alaba´s injury helped him to get into the starting line up as left back – not his natural position.
Since then, he´s performed in pretty much every games since then, made it into the Bundesliga Team of the season and is now regarded as one oft he best left backs in the world – A true success story!
