As part of the Team of the Year (TOTY) promo, the best players of the year can currently be drawn as special objects in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team (FUT).

With Kylian Mbappé (97) and Lionel Messi (98), two Paris Saint-Germain attackers have made it into the TOTY selection of FIFA 22 and form the wingers around Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski (98). Liverpool FC's Mohamed Salah (89) was left out, even though many fans and experts thought the Moroccan was stronger than the two PSG players in 2021.
Salah is now in the voting for the 12th man together with Cristiano Ronaldo (91, Manchester United) and Karim Benzema (89) of Real Madrid. The winner will also be equipped with a TOTY card. The voting takes place in FUT, every player can participate.

Are Honourable Mentions cards coming?
Until then, the attackers, the three midfielders as well as the defence including the keeper are available in the FUT packs one after the other, the defence is still available until Thursday (27.01.). Afterwards, all TOTY cards will appear in the packs in parallel. At least this is how EA SPORTS has handled it in the past years and also in FIFA 22 the rhythm should not change.
In FIFA 21, the Californian developer surprised with the release of "Honourable Mentions" objects; players who just missed the jump into the selection were equipped with TOTY cards. Their boost is somewhat weaker than that of the players in the starting eleven. It is not yet clear whether such objects will appear again.
SBCs and Objectives around the TOTY
What is clear, however, is that more special objects and pack rewards will appear via Squad Building Challenges (SBCs) and Objectives in the course of the promo. Currently, Lucas Paquetá (88) is available as a flashback card, and "TOTY Challenges" will be published daily. And an SBC for prime icons is also in the starting blocks and should appear soon.
