The Hero cards in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team (FUT) have enjoyed a high standing in the community, with inactive players being added to the game who have yet to reach icon status. However, many were unhappy with how EA SPORTS handled the progression of Hero cards. In FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, that is about to change.
Because the Heroes in FUT 23 are supposed to appear as progressive items. This means that they are dynamic and can increase their rating independent of events. This is supposed to depend on the success of the nationalities at the World Cup in the upcoming spin-off. Leaks report that Heroes' upgrades will depend on goals and victories of their nationalities at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

This concept seems to make sense, especially because in FIFA 23 there will be a strong focus on the World Cup, since it already takes place in November. So as much attention as possible should be drawn to the tournament and in return EA SPORTS can use the tournament for their events. It seems that first and foremost the Hero cards will benefit from this.
But this is only one option to upgrade the Heroes cards and above all only a mid-term solution. Because not all nations take part in the World Cup and on the other hand the World Cup only lasts for a limited period of time. Therefore, EA SPORTS will have to introduce other methods to make the Heroes interesting throughout the year. However, not all of these methods are known at the moment.
