Tips for using CBD in eSports

Tips for using CBD in eSports

The first part of our series “CBD IN GAMING AND ESPORT” is about why CBD is gaining more and more attention in the gaming industry. Today we want to take a closer look at the application of the cannabinoid.
Cannabidiol - the primary non-psychoactive therapeutic ingredient in cannabis plants (Source: Leafly)

1. When competing, CBD from isolate is recommended

The Electronic Sports League works just like any other professional sports organization. It regulates competitors to ensure that no one gains an unfair advantage. A big part of that is drug testing.

In the past, there were nearly no restrictions on performance-enhancing drugs at electronic sporting events – but after it was revealed that several high-level athletes were taking drugs like Adderall during an event to improve thinking skills and reaction time, regulators stepped in and instituted a ban on all performance-enhancing drugs.

About five years ago, ESL made a statement that the organization would base its anti-doping list on substances listed by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

The cannabinoids found in cannabis are included on this list – with the explicit exception of CBD. This is not considered a doping agent by most authorities. This is why it is especially important to only use CBD products that are made from pure, isolated CBD.

There are many excellent CBD manufacturers that make CBD isolate oils, capsules, and edibles for people who want to add this supplement to their diet without risking a failed drug test.

CBD isolates are made from a purified version of the compound with all other cannabinoids removed. This is the only way to ensure that none of the plant’s other cannabinoids – particularly the psychoactive ingredient THC – remain in the final product.

2. The right dose takes time

One of the trickiest aspects of using CBD for beginners is finding the right dose. CBD affects everyone differently – some people need higher doses to get the benefits, others need much lower doses. It all depends on how your body reacts to it and how severe your symptoms are.

The best way to find the right dose is to start with a lower dose and gradually increase it over time. Below are our general recommendations for CBD use based on body weight. This should be used as a starting point – not as medical advice.

Many people start with the lowest dose for their weight and add 2-5 mg of CBD per dose over the course of a few days until they experience the desired effect. If you experience side effects, they simply return to the last dose they used that did not cause side effects.

The right dosage is crucial to achieve the desired effect (source: Vitahanf).

3. Consult your doctor before using CBD

CBD is an excellent health supplement and there are many reasons why professional eSport athletes should include this supplement in their nutritional program.

However, it is advisable to consult a doctor before using CBD or any other supplement to relieve symptoms. A doctor can help determine the right dose, watch for contraindications (reasons to avoid CBD) and provide other health advice to get the most out of the supplement (including other supplements, medications or lifestyle changes).

There is a debate about whether or not eSports should be considered a real sport – but either way, players in this field need to work at the top of their game if they want to succeed. This requires endurance and training, along with a good diet, plenty of sleep, stress management – and in many cases, the use of supplements and medications (including CBD).

Final thoughts: Using CBD for eSports athletes

eSports are big – and they’re getting bigger. Competitors have the potential to make millions of dollars. That gives eSports athletes a lot of motivation to take extra measures to stay at the top of their game.

CBD could be the answer for some.

We show you how to score more goals from freekicks (Source: EA Sports).

Top-Spin Freekick

Scenario 1: You have a free kick relatively central, 16-18m in front of goal. All you have to do is aim with the left stick exactly into the top corner above the wall, charge 1.5-2 bars shot-power and your player hammers the free kick exactly into the top corner.

Dipping Freekick

Scenario 2: the referee awards you a free kick at a distance of about 18-20m away from goal. Depending on the distance, you have to charge up 2-3 bars of shot power. With the left stick you aim as high as possible over the goal or over the goal corner where the ball should hit. With the right stick, after pressing the shoot button, you perform a movement upwards and then immediately downwards. Your player will then perform a top-spin free kick and the ball will drop into the goal.

Curved Freekick

The curved free kick is useful if you don’t want to take a free kick from a central position and want to circle the ball around the wall. To do this, first position your player as far out as possible with the right stick. With the left stick you aim as far as possible next to the wall and keep the target at the height of the top corner of the goal. Depending on the distance, we recommend you to use 2-3.5 bars of shooting power. After pressing the shot button, turn your right stick up from the bottom in a semicircle. The ball will follow the direction you set with your right stick in its flight curve.
In the meantime, however, many players in the Weekend League are moving their goalkeeper. In this case you will have to adjust your freekick. Tune in next week for more freekick tutorials on how to score when your opponent moves their goalkeeper.
In the video below our coach Schnixx shows you some of the freekick variations we just covered.

Now let’s jump into the best ways to score goals in FIFA21.

Over the Wings

Playing over the wings to score goals is probably one of the most effective ways in FIFA21. There are different ways of how you can do this. It’s important to mention that rehearsed moves are always “nice to have”, but in the end it is even more important to make the right decision in the respective game situation. An example would be the following move: With your fullback you send your winger along the sideline. After your striker receives the ball, you move into the middle, for example after a ball stop or a cheeky little skill combination. Your incoming striker takes off into the open space and you play the pass into his run and immediately look for the finish. Below you can find a video from our coach and former FIFA European Champion Kev1n, who has some more tips regarding playing over the wings.

Around the Box

You’ve probably experienced it yourself several times: getting through the middle zone is no problem at all, but at the opponent’s box a seemingly insurmountable defensive wall is waiting for you. Sometimes, after just a few short, quick passes, a gap in the opponent’s defense opens up. The most important thing is not to get impatient too quickly and fire a hasty finish into the defense’s block. In this video you’ll find a few moves from Coach Kev1n that will hopefully help you.

Inside the Box

It gets really difficult when your opponent decides to park the bus and defends with 10 men at or in his own box. With the help of a few skill moves, a distance shot or a quick passing combination you can break through the wall. Kev1n shows you a few tips and in-game examples on how to break through your opponent’s defense.

Become a FIFA Pro – How to go Pro 6

Become a FIFA Pro - How to go Pro 6

The training is right? You are mentally and technically in top shape? The elite ranks are standard for you? – Then you have reached the last level of the question “How do I become a FIFA Pro?”
Who will be the next FIFA world champion? (Source: EA Sports)
Winning as many games as possible in FIFA 21 is a basic requirement to become an eSports pro. But this alone is not enough. There are many excellent gamers out there, but unfortunately nobody knows them. So the next step is to generate attention.

Streaming & Social Media

The best in the world do it: Streaming on Twitch or Youtube. A cheap and easy way to generate attention and reach is to stream your gameplay live. If you show top-notch performances, the viewers will come almost by themselves, because everyone wants to watch the best gaming. If you make your streams entertaining by using pack openings, for example, the chances of attracting followers are not bad.
As an eSports player, you should also be represented on the usual social media channels. In the FIFA world, these include Instagram, Twitter and Tiktok. A mix of gameplay, results and entertainment will also please your community!

Clubs, Agencies, Coaching

As soon as your popularity rises, the first clubs and player agencies will knock on your door. Usually these partners will help you to be even more successful, but they also want a piece of the pie. The way of an eSports pro can also be gone very successfully alone, however, the effort for it is also larger. Team player or one-man-army? Your choice!
A rewarding story for every eSportsman is to pass on his knowledge and to give other players tips & tricks. On the one hand this increases your popularity and on the other hand you have a nice side job where you can learn meta-tactics intensively. If you want to know more about FIFA Coaching, have a look at our Pro Coaches!
The interest in the best gamers in the world is enormous (Source: EA Sports)

Common mistakes

Many aspiring eSports players want too much too fast. Do not set your expectations too high and be patient with yourself. Freaking out – Keep calm! Freakouts lead to ragequits and not the comeback of the year. Playing haphazardly – A lot does not always help a lot. Plan your training and always have your goal in mind!

FIFA21: How to score more Penalties – SKILL CLASS

FIFA21: How to score more penalties – SKILL CLASS

In this week’s edition of our SKILL CLASS series, we will tell you how to score every penalty in FIFA21. So far, we have already given you exclusive tips & tricks about the Top 3 formations in FIFA21, the most effective skill moves in the game as well as on how to improve your dribbling. In this article we will show you everything you need to know about the penalty shootout to be successful in your next Weekend League.
You can always find the latest FIFA21 FUT news on our blog. Among others, we already published articles about the upcoming Team of the Season (TOTS), which will be released on Friday, April 23rd 2021. Further, we provided you with our predictions for all leagues of the Team of the Season as well as for the Most Consistent TOTS. Make sure to check it out!
Use these tips to score every penalty. (Source: WDR)
First of all, it’s important to mention that at the penalty spot, your player always moves his head to where you aim with the left stick. Therefore, if you aim at a corner from the start and then go for the penalty, your opponent will already know where you want to shoot the ball. However, you can get around this problem with a simple trick.
To start your penalty shot correctly, simply aim at the center and press the circle button. Only after you have charged up the shot, you move your left stick to the desired corner. This ensures that your player’s line of sight doesn’t tell your opponent where you want to place your penalty.
You can further optimize this variant by working with the so-called timed finish. Press the shot button once more as soon as your player touches the ball with his foot. With the help of the green timed finish, it is even more likely that your penalty taker will convert from the spot.
As a last variant we can recommend you to take your penalty with the inside of your player’s foot. You can do this by pressing the R1 button when taking the penalty. Aim for the right or left cross corner. Normally, the opponent’s goalkeeper won’t even be able to hold the ball if he dives into the right corner. Again, of course, you can spice up this penalty opportunity with a green-timed finish.
Last but not least, we have a tip for you if you have problems keeping the target in the desired position. Simply clamp your right stick with your thumb and index finger. This will make it much easier to keep the target steady during the penalty kick. In the following video, our coach Schnixx summarizes all the important points for you to score more penalties.

How to go Pro 5 – physical fitness

How to go Pro 5 - physical fitness

The image of the eSportsman who only eats fast food and drinks energy drinks is a thing of the past. In order to become a successful FIFA pro and later earn money with gaming, healthy nutrition and physical fitness are among the basic requirements.
To play with the big ones you have to be physically 100% fit (Source: FIFA)
In the last part of our series “How to go Pro” you could already learn everything about the mental strength of a FIFA pro. Now we want to take a closer look at some physical aspects.

General fitness

To be able to cope with the training and competition loads of an eSportsman you should be as healthy and fit as possible. A diet and training plan is already part of the standard repertoire of the world’s most successful gamers.

Training plan

In “How to go Pro 2 – Training Structure & Training Plan” you will learn everything about FIFA specific training. In addition, the training plan of the pros also includes regular strength and cardio training. Jogging and lifting weights every now and then instead of 24/7 gaming is the motto.

Nutrition

Poor nutrition makes you sick, unhappy, causes lack of concentration, and so on. No one, and especially no professional athlete, needs all that if they want to be successful. That’s why (e)athletes pay attention to a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. #eatyourveggies
The nutrition of eSports athletes has changed a lot in recent years (Source: FIFA)

Reaction time & hand-eye coordination

Reaction time is little to impossible to train, as it depends on the speed of your nervous system. What you can train, however, is anticipating actions, which also helps you shorten the reaction time. Our tactics expert Stylo will show you how to anticipate your opponent’s actions in his coaching sessions.

Hand-eye coordination can be trained and should not be neglected. It is already trained during ‘normal’ gaming, but professionals also train it separately. This is done, for example, through motor challenges such as juggling or painting, but SKILLGAME is also an excellent option to train hand-eye coordination.

FIFA21: Dribbling Tips & Tricks – SKILL CLASS

FIFA21: Dribbling Tips & Tricks - SKILL CLASS

In our column “SKILL CLASS” we present you helpful tips & tricks around the topic of FIFA on a regular basis. We already reported about the top 3 formations in FIFA21 and about the most effective skills in FIFA21. Today, we deal with another important part of the offensive game, namely the different dribbling styles. We show you how agile, slow and strafe dribbling work.
Dribbling is an elemantary part of FIFA21. With the right tips and tricks, you will make your opponents feel dizzy (Source: Everyeye).
You can always find the latest FIFA21 FUT news on our blog. Among others, it is about the upcoming Team of the Season (TOTS), which is expected to be released on Friday, April 23rd 2021. We have already provided you with our predictions for the TOTS Serie A, the TOTS of the Premier League as well as the Bundesliga TOTS and the FUT TOTS Nominees Leak. It’s definitely worth checking out!

Agile Dribbling

We start with Agile Dribbling, an incredibly effective variant of dribbling in FIFA21. Although this feature has been in numerous titles of the FIFA series, this year it is stronger than ever before. To perform an agile dribble with your player, you press the R1 button and move the left stick in the direction you want to turn. Agile dribbling allows you to turn and move around the field quickly and effectively, especially in tight spaces. With players like Neymar, Mbappé, or FUT-Cards with similarly high agility and dribbling, this form of dribbling works best. Especially in and around the opponent’s box, you can use the quick directional changes to create important space and make your opponent feel dizzy.
Execution: R1 + LS in desired direction

Slow Dribbling

In soccer, it’s not always about the greatest possible speed. With the help of the so-called slow dribbling, you can shield the ball optimally from your opponent while you still have enough control over the dribbling movements. You perform the slow dribble with the button combination R2 and L2. You can make full use of this dribbling variant when you look for a pass to a teammate after successfully shielding the ball. While the Agile Dribbling is best used in or around the opponent’s box, you can use the Slow Dribbling to shield the ball on the outer lane or in the center zone and gain time.
Execution: R2 + L2 + LS in desired direction

Strafe Dribbling

The Strafe Dribbling is also known from previous FIFA titles. In-game it looks quite similar to the Agile Dribbling. Also, we would recommend you to use the Strafe Dribbling in similar situations as the Agile Dribbling. However, due to the meta in FIFA21, the Agile Dribbling is clearly preferable to the Strafe Dribbling at any given time. If you still want to humiliate your opponent with this type of dribbling, you are of course free to do so. One from the category: so unnecessary that it’s already cool again.
Execution: L1 + LS in desired direction

FIFA21 Most effective Skill Moves – SKILL CLASS

FIFA21 Most effective Skills – SKILL CLASS

With these skills you can improve your gameplay in FIFA21
For some a mystery, for others already an integral part of their own game: skill moves in FIFA21. With the right skill moves you can solve almost any situation in-game. Many skills are not only incredibly effective, but also look pretty cool. In our SKILL CLASSES we regularly provide you with tips and tricks about offense, defense, tactics and skills online.
In this article we will show you the most effective skill moves in FIFA21, how they work and in which in-game situations you can use them best. And don’t forget that practice makes perfect! Especially in the beginning it can happen that your player don’t execute the move you actually want to them execute. However, it’s definitely worth sticking with it to become the ultimate skill master.

1. Ball Stopp - 2 Star

Let’s start with one of the simplest skills in FIFA21: the ball stop. You can and should use it best in full sprint with your player and thus let the opponent run on for a short moment, which – in the best case – gives you free spaces. You execute the ball stop with R1 + shot feint (square + X). You can perform this skill with any of your field players, as this trick only requires 2 star skill moves. From a standing position you can combine the ball stop with other skills as you like.
Execution: R1 + square + X

2. Ball roll into Scoop Turn – 5 Star

Especially with your agile players, you can effectively use the “Ball roll into Scoop Turn”. You need a player with 5* skill moves to perform this move. The Ball roll into Scoop Turn gives you important space to play in, especially in the middle of your opponent’s offensive zone, due to the quick change of direction. You execute the move by first making a ball roll (right stick up or down, depending on the desired direction). Directly after the ball roll you execute a scoop turn (shot feint + left stick in the desired direction).
Execution: After ball roll: square + X + LS in desired direction (180° turn)

3. Elastico – 5 Star

Not only GAMERS ACADEMY coaches love this move, but also numerous gamers have already included it in their skill set. Although this skill move was even more effective before the first patch was released for FIFA21, it is definitely still one of the best skill moves in the game. You perform the Elastico by moving the right stick from right to left with a half turn. For this move you need a player with 5* skill moves.
Execution: RS ½ turn from right to left

4. Reverse Elastico – 5 Star

As the name already suggests, the Reverse Elastico is closely related to the already described Elastico. As with its “little brother”, you need a player with 5 star skill moves to perform it. The execution of the Reverse Elastico only differs in that you now have to rotate the right stick from left to right in a half turn. Unfortunately, the Reverse Elastico was patched some weeks after FIFA21 release, but it is still one of the most popular and effective moves in the game.
Execution: RS ½ turn from left to right

5. La Croquetta Cancel – 4 Star

Still incredibly effective is the so-called “La Croquetta Cancel”. Admittedly, this move is something for the pros among you guys. It is based on the idea that you cancel the “La Croquetta” move during execution. For this skill you need not only fast fingers, but also a player with at least 4 star skill moves. First, you start the “La Croquetta” by holding down L1 while performing a ball roll. While your player is executing this move, end it early by pressing L2 and R2 at the same time. Timing is everything here. To be able to execute the Croquetta Cancel optimally, we recommend practicing in the training arena first.
Execution: L1 + ball roll + R2 + L2

6. Directional Nutmeg / Bridge V2 – 1 Star

Last but not least, we have a move for you with which you can dupe your opponents in the classic sense. With the key combination L1+R1 and a diagonal movement of the right stick in the desired direction, your player tries to nutmeg the opponent. Best thing about this meta skill move is that it only requires 1* skill move from your player.
Execution: R1 + L1 + RS in desired direction

Now you have an overview of the most effective skiills in FIFA21. All you gotta do now is practice, practice, practice! We wish you a lot of fun with the realization phase! Here you can find the article about our last SKILL CLASS, in which we told you about the Top 3 Formations in FIFA21.

FIFA21 Ultimate Team (FUT): Top 3 formations

FIFA21 Ultimate Team: Top 3 formations

A question every ambitious FIFA player asks himself year after year is which formation is best suited for his FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT). Our coach Kevin Reiser has the latest answers, which we don’t want to withhold from you.
With these formations you will rock your next Weekend League

4-2-3-1 (2) – the all-rounder

The 4-2-3-1 formation is a very well balanced formation. It allows you to attack from the center as well as from the wings. In this formation, special attention is paid to your 10 – the playmaker in the COM position. In order to optimally distribute the ball to the wing or to your striker, he should have at least 4* weak foot. The two 6s in the CM should complement each other as best as possible in terms of their player type. That means: if possible, a defensively oriented player and an offensively oriented CM. Your players in the left and right midfield should have a pace of at least 85. The choice of your striker is a matter of taste: a big boy or a meta-striker – it’s up to you. For example, you certainly can’t go wrong with second in-form Aubameyang from the current TOTW27.

4-1-2-1-2 (2) – through the center

In contrast to the first formation, the focus of the tight diamond in the 4-1-2-1-2 is on playing through the middle. Therefore, you should look for a CDM who is strong in tackling and passing, as well as two CM players with balanced offensive and defensive stats that you can use as all-rounders. Your playmaker is again your COM. As for the forward position, you are more flexible with the 4-1-2-1-2 formation than with the 4-2-3-1, since you don’t have to limit yourself to one striker. It’s a good idea to complement a robust finishing striker with a playmaking striker, for example Erling Haaland with Leroy Sané from FUT Birthday Team 1.

4-4-2 – a classic

GAMERS ACADEMY coach Kevin Reiser presents his top 3 formations (Source: EA Sports)
The 4-4-2 is a well-known and proven formation in FIFA Ultimate Team. The only thing you have to keep in mind here is that you have fast wingers on the outside and that your center backs complement each other, just like in the 4-1-2-1-2. It is advantageous to have a defensive and an offensive oriented 6-man. Again, you can choose your strikers according to your taste.

Bonus: 3-5-2 – the crowbar

If you are trailing at the end of the game despite the best formations, sometimes only the crowbar can help – or in our case: the 3-5-2 formation. When you need to win or draw by hook or crook, sometimes only meta strikers can make the difference. And you have plenty of them in this formation – on the flanks, in attack, in attacking midfield. The choice is yours.
