In the second part of our FIFA21 Pro Clubs series we showed you how to improve your Virtual Pro and which possibilities the game offers you. In the third part we will explain you which formations and tactics are the most promising for your club in the Pro Clubs mode.

In FIFA21, the Pro Clubs mode has taken an important step forward. For the first time, it is possible for players to change and customize the appearance and name of their AI players to their liking. But more importantly, it's finally possible to set up to five preset custom formations and tactics.

This new feature gives FIFA21 Pro Clubs players more control over their teams in one fell swoop than ever before. However, this is both a curse and a blessing, because FIFA21 has a whole list of formations and they all have their strengths and weaknesses. Which formation and tactics are most promising for your team is something you'll have to figure out. For those of you who don't want to do the work or haven't found the right formation after a long search, here are the three best formations including tactical instructions for your Pro Clubs team.

Formation: 5-2-1-2

The 5-2-1-2 formation strongly resembles a typical FIFA21 Ultimate Team meta-formation. Five men on defense paired with a balanced attack and defense style. The formation gives players plenty of room to shine.

You instruct the left and right wingers to stay back when your own attacks occur. This will keep your defensive line at the same level and prevent your wingers from being pulled out. In this way, you prevent your opponent from overrunning your defense with easy balls.

Your style of play with this formation is quite simple. Stand securely in defense and preferably counter the opponent, or slowly build up the game with passing combinations. For you, it's all about precision and patience. For players who prefer a calm and unexcited style of play, this formation is just right. For maximum effectiveness, both of your ST should be controlled by humans.

Defense:

  • Defensive style: Balanced

  • Width: five bars

  • Depth: five bars

Attack:

  • Offensive style: Balanced

  • Width: five bars

  • Players in the box: five bars

  • Corners: two bars

  • Free kicks: two bars

Formation: 4-3-2-1

The 4-3-2-1 formation focuses more on attacking. To avoid being too vulnerable defensively, you should set the defensive style to "drop back" and have no more than three bars on depth. This will keep your defense tight without weakening the attack.

It is important to set the positions of the LCM and RCM to "cover the center". In this way, they close the center and do not let themselves be pulled to the wings. In this way, you will prevent opposing attacks and interfaces passes through the center. To play successfully with this formation, the positions of ST, CAM and CDM should be controlled by people in order to integrate them in the best possible way into the build-up of the game.

For those who prefer a fast and aggressive style of play without being too exposed on defense, this formation provides a good middle ground.

Defense:

  • Defensive style: drop back

  • Width: five bars

  • Depth: three bars

Attack:

  • Offensive style: Balanced

  • Width: five bars

  • Players in the box: six bars

  • Corners: two bars

  • Free kicks: two bars

Formation: 4-3-3 (2)

The 4-3-3 (2) formation is simple and effective. You can adopt the basic tactical setting without changing it much. The foundation of the formation is the defense and the midfield. On the wings, players with flair and creativity have plenty of room to develop and shine.

The formation's greatest asset, its fast counterattacks, is also its greatest weakness. To make your team less vulnerable to the opponent's counterattacks, set the defensive style to "fall back".

You can leave all other basic tactical settings as they are. The key position in the defense is the CDM. So you should make sure that this is controlled by a human.

Defense:

  • Defensive style: drop back

  • Width: five bars

  • Depth: five bars

Attack:

  • Offensive style: Balanced

  • Width: five bars

  • Players in the box: five bars

  • Corners: three bars

  • Free kicks: three bars
