Tips for using CBD in eSports

The first part of our series “CBD IN GAMING AND ESPORT” is about why CBD is gaining more and more attention in the gaming industry. Today we want to take a closer look at the application of the cannabinoid.

1. When competing, CBD from isolate is recommended

The Electronic Sports League works just like any other professional sports organization. It regulates competitors to ensure that no one gains an unfair advantage. A big part of that is drug testing.

In the past, there were nearly no restrictions on performance-enhancing drugs at electronic sporting events – but after it was revealed that several high-level athletes were taking drugs like Adderall during an event to improve thinking skills and reaction time, regulators stepped in and instituted a ban on all performance-enhancing drugs.

About five years ago, ESL made a statement that the organization would base its anti-doping list on substances listed by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

The cannabinoids found in cannabis are included on this list – with the explicit exception of CBD. This is not considered a doping agent by most authorities. This is why it is especially important to only use CBD products that are made from pure, isolated CBD.

There are many excellent CBD manufacturers that make CBD isolate oils, capsules, and edibles for people who want to add this supplement to their diet without risking a failed drug test.

CBD isolates are made from a purified version of the compound with all other cannabinoids removed. This is the only way to ensure that none of the plant’s other cannabinoids – particularly the psychoactive ingredient THC – remain in the final product.

2. The right dose takes time

One of the trickiest aspects of using CBD for beginners is finding the right dose. CBD affects everyone differently – some people need higher doses to get the benefits, others need much lower doses. It all depends on how your body reacts to it and how severe your symptoms are.

The best way to find the right dose is to start with a lower dose and gradually increase it over time. Below are our general recommendations for CBD use based on body weight. This should be used as a starting point – not as medical advice.

Many people start with the lowest dose for their weight and add 2-5 mg of CBD per dose over the course of a few days until they experience the desired effect. If you experience side effects, they simply return to the last dose they used that did not cause side effects.

3. Consult your doctor before using CBD

CBD is an excellent health supplement and there are many reasons why professional eSport athletes should include this supplement in their nutritional program.

However, it is advisable to consult a doctor before using CBD or any other supplement to relieve symptoms. A doctor can help determine the right dose, watch for contraindications (reasons to avoid CBD) and provide other health advice to get the most out of the supplement (including other supplements, medications or lifestyle changes).

There is a debate about whether or not eSports should be considered a real sport – but either way, players in this field need to work at the top of their game if they want to succeed. This requires endurance and training, along with a good diet, plenty of sleep, stress management – and in many cases, the use of supplements and medications (including CBD).

Final thoughts: Using CBD for eSports athletes

eSports are big – and they’re getting bigger. Competitors have the potential to make millions of dollars. That gives eSports athletes a lot of motivation to take extra measures to stay at the top of their game.

CBD could be the answer for some.
