Shooting

In our series "Player Attributes Explained", we give you more information about how the individual attributes of the players influence the gameplay. The attributes have been the same in the FIFA series, which will soon be called EA-SPORTS FC, for several parts and are divided into the six big categories Pace, Shooting, Passing, Dribbling, Defence and Physicality, especially in the Ultimate Team mode.

Today we will give you an overview of the individual attributes of the Shooting category. In total, the Shooting category has six attributes. However, you often don't know how the individual attributes affect the gameplay and what strengths or weaknesses you can expect if one of the attributes is particularly high or low. For this reason, we explain the individual attributes below.

Shooting - All Attributes at a Glance

  • Positioning: Positioning provides information on how well a player moves in open space. The higher the value, the better a player stands clear of his opponents and thus has enough space to receive a pass and bring the ball under control. This often means that own strikers are freer to play in the opponent's 16 or are in a better position to score from rebounded balls. Positioning, however, has no influence on where players stand in standard situations.

  • Finishing: This attribute describes the accuracy of the shot inside the penalty area and does not count for long shots or headers. The higher the Finishing, the more accurately the player hits where you are aiming. It does not mean that a player with a high Finishing value is automatically more likely to score goals, but rather that you have to manage the accurate aiming yourself beforehand.

  • Shot Power: This value does not indicate how strong or how fast a shot is. It only describes the accuracy of strong shots. The higher the value, the more accurately the shot reaches the targeted direction in the case of strongly charged shots.

  • Long Shots: The Long Shot value is the counterpart to the Finishing value and describes the accuracy of the shot outside the penalty area. Headers do not count here either.

  • Volleys: This attribute indicates how accurately a shot adheres to the direction of the target when it is executed by direct kick. Mostly, these shots are characterised by the fact that they are taken from the air and not from the ground.

  • Penalties: This value concerns the accuracy of penalty kicks. The difference is best seen in the pulsating circle under the ball. For a player with a high penalty value, this circle pulsates much more slowly and you therefore have a little more time to command the shot at the right moment (when the circle is smallest).
