A new FIFA spin-off is usually released in October of a year. EA SPORTS might aim for a new release date for FIFA 23. At least that's what various leakers claim on Twitter. Besides changes in the gameplay, EA SPORTS is supposed to release FIFA 23 late in July or early in August.
This raises the question why EA wants to change their routine release if the leaks should prove to be true. One aspect could be the start of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, as the tournament is played in November due to the hot temperatures in Qatar. Thus, with a release in October, EA SPORTS would not have the desired time to sufficiently promote the World Cup mode.

On the other hand, the failed contract extension with FIFA could be a reason. According to this, EA SPORTS has more time to work on "EA SPORTS FOOTBALL CLUB 2024" with a release in August. All these theories are speculations though. In addition, the information about an earlier release was only a leak and nothing is officially confirmed.
